Check your BMI
Your BMI is one of the first things your pharmacist looks at. Work yours out here.
For adults aged 18 and over. Please don't use it if you're pregnant, have or think you may have an eating disorder, or have a condition that affects your height.
Nothing is saved or sent. This stays on your device.
- Your BMI is 30 or more. A consultation can go ahead.
- Your BMI is between 27 and 29.9. A consultation can go ahead if you also have a weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol or blood fats, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
- Your BMI is under 27, so we can't start weight-loss treatment.
Your pharmacist still checks your health, your other medicines and your weight before anything is supplied. If they can't approve your order, you get a full refund.
Start your consultationTaken a weight-loss medicine before?
This check is for a first start. If you take a weight-loss medicine now, with us or another provider, your BMI needs to be 20 or more to carry on. If you stopped three months ago or more, restarting is checked like a first start, and you begin again at the lowest dose. Your pharmacist reviews your BMI at every order.
We'll pause or stop treatment if it isn't working for you (less than 5% weight loss after a fair trial at your best-tolerated dose), if side effects persist despite adjusting, if your BMI falls below 20, or if you become pregnant. Treatment is reviewed regularly, and if longer-term therapy beyond our service is right for you, we'll help you transition to a prescriber-led pathway.
What else your pharmacist checks
Your BMI is one part of the check. Your pharmacist may not be able to approve an order if a health condition makes treatment unsafe, another medicine you take doesn't mix with it, your symptoms need to be seen in person, or your answers can't be checked.
BMI isn't the whole picture
BMI can't tell muscle from fat, so a very muscular person can come out as overweight or obese.
If your BMI is under 35, your waist tells you more: try to keep your waist to less than half your height.

How BMI is worked out
Your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres, squared.
70 kg and 1.70 m: 1.70 × 1.70 = 2.89, and 70 ÷ 2.89 = 24.2.
| Underweight | under 18.5 |
|---|---|
| A healthy weight | 18.5 to 24.9 |
| Overweight | 25 to 29.9 |
| Obese | 30 or more |
