What is Vardenafil
Vardenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor, the active ingredient in Levitra. It works in the same way as sildenafil and is short acting. Take it 25 to 60 minutes before sex. It takes about 30 minutes to work. It does not cause an erection without sexual stimulation. It enhances the natural response.

Who it's for
Adult men with erectile dysfunction. Vardenafil can be taken at any time with tamsulosin or alfuzosin. With other alpha-blockers, allow time separation.
Caution: avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking vardenafil.
Not suitable if you take:
- Nitrates (GTN spray, isosorbide mononitrate/dinitrate)
- Riociguat (Adempas) or vericiguat (Verquvo)
- Other PDE5 inhibitors or HIV protease inhibitors
How to take Vardenafil
- Starting dose: 10mg. Take it 25 to 60 minutes before sex. It takes about 30 minutes to work
- Dose range: 5mg to 20mg. Maximum 20mg once daily
- Hepatic impairment: start 5mg, maximum 10mg
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice

- These tablets only work with sexual stimulation.
- Most men notice an effect the first or second time. If not, try it 4 to 8 times before deciding it does not work, then tell us.
- If this is your first time with erection problems, see your GP to check your blood sugar, cholesterol and testosterone, and have a heart health check at least every 5 years.
- These tablets can affect your ability to drive or use machines.
- Do not use unlicensed herbal remedies for erections, and do not stop any prescribed medicine unless your doctor tells you to.
- Losing weight, stopping smoking, drinking less alcohol and exercising can all help. If you cycle more than 3 hours a week, try a break from cycling.
- A heavy or high-fat meal can delay how quickly sildenafil, vardenafil and avanafil work. Tadalafil is not affected by food.
- Tell us or your GP about any side effect. You can also report it to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
