What is Vardenafil
Vardenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor, the active ingredient in Levitra. It works in the same way as sildenafil but has a longer half-life of 12 hours compared to sildenafil's 4 hours. Takes approximately 25 to 60 minutes to work. It does not cause an erection without sexual stimulation. It enhances the natural response.

Suitability
Who it's for
Adult men with erectile dysfunction, particularly those who have not achieved adequate results with sildenafil. Vardenafil can be taken with tamsulosin or alfuzosin. With other alpha-blockers, allow time separation.
Caution: avoid grapefruit juice while taking vardenafil.
Not suitable if you take:
- Nitrates (GTN spray, isosorbide mononitrate/dinitrate)
- Riociguat (Adempas)
- Other PDE5 inhibitors or HIV protease inhibitors
Dosing
How to take Vardenafil
- Starting dose: 10mg, 25 to 60 minutes before sexual activity
- Dose range: 5mg to 20mg. Maximum 20mg once daily
- Hepatic impairment: start 5mg, maximum 10mg
- Avoid grapefruit juice
- Can be taken with or without food (high-fat meals may delay onset)

Side effects
Very common / common side effects include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, dyspepsia, and dizziness. These are usually mild and temporary.
Rare but serious: priapism
