Weight-loss injections are GLP-1 medicines given as a weekly injection. They mimic a gut hormone that reduces appetite and 'food noise', slow how quickly your stomach empties, and help you feel full for longer — so you eat less without constant willpower. They're prescribed after a pharmacist reviews your eligibility.
In clinical trials, average weight loss ranged from around 15% of body weight with semaglutide to around 22.5% with tirzepatide over about 68–72 weeks. Newer higher doses and tablets are in a similar range. Individual results depend on the medicine, dose reached and adherence alongside diet and activity.
Both work through the same GLP-1 mechanism and produce broadly similar average weight loss. Injections are weekly; the tablet is once daily but must be taken on an empty stomach with a 30-minute wait before eating. The best option depends on your preferences and medical history — our pharmacist will advise.
Treatment may be suitable if your BMI is 30 or above, or 27 or above with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. You'll complete a short online consultation that our pharmacist reviews before anything is supplied.
Prices depend on the medicine and dose, starting from our lowest starter dose, plus £3.99 delivery. New patients get £20 off their first order with code WELCOME20. There's no separate prescription or consultation fee — a pharmacist review is included.
The NHS offers weight-loss medication only through specialist services with limited capacity and long waits. Private services like Solira let eligible patients start treatment without an NHS referral, after a pharmacist-reviewed online consultation.
