A 12-month randomised controlled trial by Khandpur et al. (JAMA Dermatology, 2002) compared finasteride alone, minoxidil alone, and the combination in men with male pattern hair loss. Combination therapy is recommended by leading dermatology guidelines for moderate hair loss.
